MY PASSION FOR THE BIBLE
My grandma encouraged me to learn Bible verses from a very young age. It was an incredible gift, as those verses have stuck with me and planted seeds that would define my life. At university, I discovered that I had a real keen ability to understand meaning in Scripture and relate the Bible to life. And basically, I stuck with biblical studies all the way to completing a PhD.
EMPOWERING WOMEN
When I began teaching biblical studies at a university-level, it became clear that many students weren't aware of the women in the Bible. This was a strong impetus for me to write about their stories and help my readers understand them. I believe the voices of women in the Bible are needed to inspire, encourage, and bring hope to women today. I have had the wonderful opportunity to speak at women's conferences in the United States, Canada, Africa, and Latin America, and to write for various publications on women in the Bible.
FAMILY FIRST
I hope that anyone who meets me will soon realize how important family is to me! I've known my husband for over 18 years and I can truly say that he is my best friend and greatest support. In 2018, our little baby girl, Willow, was born--and what a pure joy she is! As much as I love writing and speaking, my priority is always Willow.
FREE TIME
What do I with my free time? "What free time?" I ask! I feel that every moment is taken--and that's probably because I love to do stuff. Especially, read. Otherwise, I love music, dance, walking, homeschooling Willow, and baking. I invest a lot of time in friendships. My family and I serve at Christ Fellowship Gardens campus.
BEST EVER
Willow saying "let's dance!" ... Hearing a new worship song that is exactly what I needed in that moment ... Chocolate that literally melts in my mouth ... Receiving a card from my husband ... Hot, sunny days ... Family and friends ... Perfectly organized closets ... Disovering an amazing gluten-free treat.
“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”...
Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
